Finer intragranular bainite in steel welds has been known to be effective to improve strength and toughness greatly. The effect of the starting temperature (B_s) and the starting time (t_s) of the nucleation of intragranular bainite on the formation and configuration of intragranular bainite are examined by controlling the chemical compositions of Ni and B. It could be found that high concentration of Ni and low concentration of B induced high volume fraction of fine intragranular bainite. The results are analyzed in terms of the BS and the t_s.
