摘要

The global heating is a great threat for the future of mankind and the world. The widespread use of fossil fuels is the primary cause for it. Alternative and environmental friendly energy sources should be used instead. However Turkey has a huge potential of solar energy, which is 2640h per year, it does not benefit from this clean energy source sufficiently. The 40-45% of the energy consumed in Europe belongs to the building sector and two thirds of this amount belongs to the private buildings. The 36% of the total energy is consumed for heating buildings in Turkey. In this study, the unvented Trombe wall system, one of the earliest solar energy applications, is applied to the south fa?ade of a living-room of an apartment in a building located in Erzurum, Turkey. The study is done for the evaluation of the performance of the system with and without additional mechanical heating system for the existing wall and the renovated wall alternatives with 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15m of inter-space distances glass cover.
