Effect of using a local heating device in a cold toilet on thermal comfort in winter

The purpose of this study is to assess improvement of thermal comfort in a cold toilet by using a local heating device. Subjective experiments were conducted in an artificial climate chamber in which a toilet room was made. An electrical fan heater was used as a local heating device. A series of experiments was conducted under four conditions combined two air temperature conditions with the heating device operation. Eleven healthy college-aged subjects were adopted as subjects. The present results suggest the potential that the local heating in the cold toilet reduces the physiological load and improves the thermal comfort.
