Systems biology: a strategic European priority underpinning the ecotoxicological and nutritional risk assessment

摘要

The purpose of this paper is to present to the community of those dealing with macro and trace elements a short overview of the systems biology approach, and to suggest how this approach could be relevant for our area of interest. It results that the systems biology approach in Europe has a strategic importance in the global research competition. It is underlined in particular its role in understanding the effects of the deficiency or excess of elements and in assessing the exposure risk associated with elements. Research priorities are suggested.
