摘要

The dielectric relaxation processes of lower alcohols are reasonably explained by our dielectric relaxation model for hydrogen bonding fluids, which is based on a single-molecular picture. The second slowest process, whose importance was suggested recently, is interpreted as the hydrogen bond breaking process. The intermolecular stretching modes, which are the most frequent hydrogen bond vibrations, are found to be important to the bond-breaking mechanism. The difference of the slowest and the second slowest relaxation processes may be assigned to a waiting time for the reorientation of dipolar molecular.
