Inactiwatlon of Animal Factor VIII by human Factor VIII Inhibitors: Inwestigation of Plasma from Patients with Inhibitors in congenital Hemophilia I and from Patients with acquired Hemophilia A

In a number of patients with congenital Hemophilia A the treatment is complicated by the presence of factor VIII inhibitors. These are alloantibodies which the patients only develop after receiving replacement therapy with factor VIII preparations.Spontaneous factor VIII inhibitors, on the other hand, are antibodies to factor VIII which occur as a result of an autoimmune reaction in individuals with previously normal coagulation and lead to a usually severe acquired factor VIII deficiency with the associated clinical consequences. This disorder is known as spontaneous or acquired hemophilia A [1,2,5-7,10,13-17].
