The tensile properties of A380 and ADC12 alloy high pressure die castings were examined for different casting thickness, casting conditions, and testing temperatures. The resultant tensile properties are compared with the properties reported in various open literature. The metallurgical features which influence the tensile properties of die castings are identified and discussed. The difficulty involved in specifying the tensile properties of die casting and the danger of using published properties in component design are addressed.
