摘要

This paper synthesizes our on-going work upon voids in carbon/polymeric laminates. The aim of this work - carried out upon two different composite systems - is twofold. The first aim is to settle void content acceptability criteria enabling also quality control costs to be reduced. This is achieved by coupling void content to mechanical characteristics and ultrasonic absorption. The void contents are both determined by resin acid digestion and image analysis. The second aim is to start a very first study of the detection of localized porosity (e.g. in ply drop-off zones) by ultrasonic inspection. To this end a specific king of laminate exhibiting three different void contents was autoclave-cured.
