The Study of Critical Factors for PDM System Evaluation- a Case Analysis of a Taiwanese Precision Machinery Manufacturer

To meet global competition in a quick-response age, enterprises must place focus on rapid research and the development of diversified products. Timely implementations of product data management systems can effectively manage increased research and development projects, as well as be efficient instrument for increasing enterprise competitive power. This study is aimed at a product data management system application of a Taiwanese precision machinery manufacturer, evaluates the product data management system, and uses an analytic network process to analyze the key factors considered in the applications of the product data management system. The results indicate that the aspects of system, function, and technology, debugging and updating software should be considered. The findings show that 'system integration costs', 'maintenance service', 'software debugging and updating', as well as other 'support services' of software vendors, are the important factors regarding software evaluations.
