Immediate Outcome After Primary Angioplasty in Unprotected Left Main Coronary Artery Occlusion

From January 2006 to May 2011, 32 primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedures in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) due to unprotected left main coronary occlusion (ULMCO) were performed at our institution. Overall in-hospital mortality was 50% (16 cases). At 1 year follow-up death occurred only in one patient. Killip class at admission was the only independent predictor of in-hospital mortality (RR 2.47 [95% CI 1.25 to 4.89]).
