Limited feedback Grassmann precoding for threaded algebraic space-time codes

This paper proposes a novel limited feedback Grassmann precoding method for threaded algebraic space-time (TAST) codes. The basic Grassmann precoding techniques are first introduced by David J. Love, which are based on spatial multiplexing (SM) and space-time block coding (STBC) systems, respectively. According to the different performance bounds and optimal objects, there are different codebook construction and selection criteria. To the TAST coding case, which has full diversity order and full rate properties, however, the original Grassmann precoding method should be modified delicately to meet to the special structure. We observe that the determinant of the effective channel matrix is a better metric to optimize the system performance in the proposed scenario from both reliability and outage capacity respects. Simulation results show this proposed method provides a better tradeoff between system performance and complexity compared with the previous limited feedback Grassmann precoding methods.
