RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN SMALL VOLUME VANE PUMP TESTING

This paper describes recent changes and proposed changes to a small volume vane pump test using apparatus designed and manufactured by Conestoga USA, Inc. The tests and apparatus are used primarily to evaluate the anti-wear properties of hydraulic fluids. A new test system and pump have been developed around ASTM D7043 and ISO 20763. This paper discusses the rational for the approach taken by Conestoga USA, Inc. to improve the test pump and system. The paper also describes a high speed test pump which is still in development. Issues related to repeatability and reproducibility are also addressed.
