Clostridial enteric infections in swine occur almost exclusively during the neonatal period, but can affect pig productivity through the finishing period. Immunization against the typically-severe type C infections has greatly reduced pre-weaning mortality due to these infections, but below-average weaning weights can often be traced to infection with Clostridium perfringens type A or C. difficile.
