Our goal is to establish the utility of multi-detector row CT angiography (MDCTA) for evaluating arterial stenosis in patients with arterial occlusive disease of lower extremities. We examined twenty-eight patients (25 men and 3 women, 68+/- 10 years old) with arterial occlusive disease of lower extremities using both MDCTA and DSA. Helical scan was performed with MDCT using "Real Prep helical scanning" from pelvis to ankle with 2.0-mm collimation, 5.5-helical pitch, and scan speed of 0.5-sec/rotation. Contrast material (350 mgl/mL) was injected at the rate of 1.5 mL/sec (total 65-85 mL). The 2.0-mm-thick two-dimensional images were reconstructed every 2.0-mm interval. All images were rendered in maximum intensity projection (MIP), multi-planar reconstruction (MPR), and volume rendering (VR). DSA was performed with "Stepping" or "Bolus chase" method. Data acquisition was performed from pelvis to ankle with continuous single-phase contrast injection. Contrast material (300 mgl/mL) was injected via the catheter at the rate of 7.0-8.0 mL/sec (total 65-75 mL). Rendered MDCTA images were compared with DSA in anteroposterior view. We segmented the arteries of lower extremity into 8 segments. In each segment, we evaluated the degree of stenosis into four groups on DSA.
