Future Platform Management Systems (PMS) risk mitigation

The PMS Studies programme is an enabling contract placed on an industry team comprising BAE Systems, Rolls Royce and Vosper Thornycroft Controls and partnered by MoD MLS5. The purpose of this contract is to de-risk future Platform Management Systems prior to their procurement. The initial pass of risk identification and creation of mitigation plans are complete. Work packages thus far identified include: Tracking of technology; Production of a total lifecycle cost model; Production of guidelines to assist SMART acquisition; Production tools to enable the communications of PMS knowledge The aim of this paper will be to present outputs from the work to date and identify some of the future areas of risk mitigation that will be undertaken during this contract.
