Feeding Solutions for Wood Plastics Applications

Written with the wood-plastics extrusion processor in mind, this paper presents the basics of feeding and blending. Beginning with a brief profile of wood-plastic blending, the paper introduces definitions and considerations of material handling, types of gravimetric feeders, their operating principles and technologies, and control systems. A final section addresses the important subject of performance measurement, detailing concepts of repeatability, linearity, and stability in feeding systems.
