摘要

This passive winter air preheating technique utilizes the underground soil temperature, which stays fairly constant (about 10°C for wintertime) at a depth of 5 m. This study descries the winter air preheating performance of an underground air tunnel connected to a small-scaled test house in Kitami. The air tunnel was installed at a depth of 4.5 m. The results of these field measurements showed that underground air tunnels can reduce severe cold weather conditions in cold regions.
