摘要

Surface-enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) is a phenomenon that is some 22 years old. Briefly, SERS refers to the observation that the Raman intensity of molecules adsorbed on micr-rough surfaces of certain metals is apparently enhanced by several orders of magnitude over the Raman signal observed for an equivalent number of molecules in the absence of the surface. Although several hundreds of papers have been written on the subject, a detailed understanding of SERS is only now being created through the work of a number of theorists (1).
