摘要

Bacterial resistance to antibiotics is a cause of concern among health specialists and one focus of these concerns is the widespread use of antibacterial agents in the livestock industry. Many hypothesize that the use of quinolones in food-producing animals will enhance the emergence of drug-resistant organisms with resultant potential transmission of these organisms to humans. Little information is available regarding emergence and persistence of antibiotic resistance after antibiotic use in commercial swine facilities. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effect of treating sows with a quinotone (flumequin) on abundance and patterns of antimicrobial resistance among Escherichia coli in the feces of sows and their piglets from farrow-to-finish farms in France.
