摘要

Mycotoxins are toxigenic secondary metabolites of fungi and pose a potential risk for human and animal health when feeds and foods are contaminated under natural conditions. Our experiences of the last two decades have shown that Austrian swine herdsare mainly concerned with the fusariumtoxins deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone (ZON) because of our climatic conditions. Most economic losses of our swine herds are caused by chronic mycotoxicosis and unspecific clinical symptoms like reduction of daily weight gain, feed conversion, prolongued finishing period, reproductive failure in gilts, sows and boars are observed of incriminated animals. Furtheron impaired immunogenesis as well as natural resistance mechanisms occur and animals are quite sensitive to bacteria, virus, parasites and dermatophytes as well.
