摘要

When antimicrobial agents are administrated for the treatment of infections, determination of the ultimate treatment outcome is a function of multiple variables. Much of the outcome can be explained on the basic of the intrinsic microbiological activity of the agent administrated for the infecting pathogen, the plasma concentration-time profile in vivo, the protein binding of the antibiotic in question and other factors such as post antibiotic effect and post antibiotic leukocyte enhancement, which may assist host defences. Many classes of antimicrobials have been scrutinized with regards to the factors that influence outcome of infections (1). However, up till now most of the data have been obtained in laboratory animal species and selected pathogens with little relevance for veterinary practice. In this paper, I attempt to review some of the informations on pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics, which have been compiled for fluroquinolones and beta-lactam antibiotics in pigs.
