Efficient organic electroluminescent(EL) devices require optimization of the equalization of injection rate of electrons and holes. To achieve the high-efficient EL materials, a possible approach is to incorporate molecular chromophores together. In this way, it might be possible to avoid the complication of doping in the emitter layer and to find an appropriate device structure to maximize the carrier recombination efficiency. In this paper, a new EL copolymer(PVCz-MOXD) containing both 1,3,4-oxadiazole and carbazole units in the side chain was synthesized. The design of the copolymer was based on the consideration: (1) The polymers with 1,3,4-oxadiazole groups are thought to have high electron affinity and be able to facilitate the electron injection. They emit blue or purple light. (2) polyvinylcarbazole(PVCz) has strong hole-transporting ability and can form high-quality thin film.
