Proteins under Extreme Conditions: FTIR Spectroscopy with a Cryogenic-High Pressure Cell

In this paper we present the results of a study in which we have submitted horse skeletal metmyoglobin to a stepwise low temperature and high pressure treatment. The changes in conformation were followed with FTIR. It seems that there occurs no intermolecular #bate#-sheet aggregation at low temperature, while previous studies have shown that is does happen at high emperature.
