Based on SC grammar with which we developed the itnelligent machine translation system IMT-EC/863, we presented an multistrategy approach combining target-language-oriented lexical entry and special syntactical transfer-rules as main processing methods in language engineering. This approach enables us to translation Chines into English with quality far better than an independent-analysis and independent-generation translation. It is an engineering method that is proved to be quite useful in the development of applied MT system, especially for specialized MT systems.
