An anaysis of conjugate heat transfer from a graphite crucible

A set of thermal analyses have been conducted to predict the natural convectioin heat transfer from a graphite crucible. Natural convection around the crucible and conduction through the casting charge and the graphite crucible were examined. All of the analyses were conducted in non-dimensional form up to a Rayleigh number of 2.5 x 10~7. The papermetric study examined the effect of increasing the internal heat generation of the casting charge.
