It has long been known that very high sound pressure levels of live and electronically amplified music to which the attendants and performers are exposed in youth clubs and discotheques are dangerous to bearing. Sound pressure levels and hearingloss resulting from the exposure to loud music were examined by large number of investigators over the last quarter of a century. The existing abundant literature was critically reviewed by Hughes et al. [13], by Clark [7] and Dibble [9] and many others.Analysed were the data referring both to live and to electronically amplified pop/rock music e.g. Rintelman and Borus [21], Cabot et al. [4], Clark and Bohne [8], Clark [7], Borschgrevink [3], Ising et at. [14], Jaroszewski and Rakowski [19] Jaroszewski[16], Jaroszewski et at. [17, 18]. In the attempts to relate the data describing the exposure to the resulting deterioration of the hearing system, analysed were the temporary and the permanent threshold shifts due to the exposure to music. These data were eventually used to determine the exposures that are obviously dangerous or damaging to the hearing system e.g. Carter et al.[5], Skrajnar et al. [22], Catalano and Levin [6], Fearn [10], Fearn and Hansson [11, 12], Clark [7].
