Results obtained by mechano-chemical leachingof complex Cu-Sb concentrates composed mainly of tetrahedriteCu_(12)Sb_4S_(13), chalcopyrite, pyrite and minor amounts ofarsenopyrite are described. Tests with stirring ball millcombined with alkaline leaching at 88-95 deg C underatmospheric pressure have shown that only to 60-70 mm. arerequired for total extraction of Sb. Other valuable metals, e.g.Cu, Ag and Au, form the main economic components in solidleaching residue. The liquid/solid ratio (3.3-3.8) and powerinputs (120-245 kWh/t) applied in tests are acceptable from theviewpoint of plant operation. The above mentioned objectivecan be attained at much shorter leaching time comparison withsimilar technologies which are not applying ultrafine grinding.
