It is well-known that dispersity and otherstructural and physico-chemical properties of solids are changedby mechanical stress in grinding machines. These effects ofmechanical activation have not only significance for highdispersity, but also for particle sizes which correspond withflotation fineness, since the structural defects can be concen-trated with a specific stress to thin surface layers. It is shown forexamples of quartz, cassiterite and other minerals, that bothworsening and improvement of flotability can be obtained.
