In this paper, a new process, named "self-carrier"precipitate flotation (SCPF) using an anionic surfactant ascollector is described. Laboratory tests on the removal of zincion from pure water was carried out using this process. Theresults show that the recovery of zinc ion can be increased from92 percent using conventional precipitate flotation to more than97 percent for the SCPF process with the added benefit of morea controllable flotation process. The mechanism of the SCPFprocess is discussed in detail with reference to data collectedfrom Optical Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy andZeta potential measurement.
