KAKTUS: A new plant design for processing of plastic packaging waste-experiences of pilot scale operation

摘要

The paper presents the design of a process plantwhich enables to recycle packaging material collected in yellowsacks or yellow bins (so called PMD fraction) by a fullymechanised process. This is achieved by highly advancedprocess steps e.g. a suspensioning-/washing-stage in a modifiedpulper/drum-system or a density sorting-stage in a centrifuge.The plant started its initial operation in autumn 1996 and hasprocessed several types of PMD-fractions from different areas inNorth Rhine-Westphalia since then.
