Prepared Discussion of: Review of the Effects of Invertebrate Macrofouling on Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion in Raw Water Systems

At the time of preparation of this discussion, only the August 2, 1996 draft of the manuscript was available for our preview. Assuming that the final manuscript is similar to this draft, the authors have reviewed the fact that certain marine organisms and fresh water organisms, belonging to the biological classification of macroinvertebrates can be influential in several processes which lead to corrosion of substrates. The prerequisite for corrosion reviewed in this manuscript is the fact that the macroinvertedbrates contribute to macrofouling which in turn results in corrosion of the macrofouled substrate.
