Fiber in the ioop migration from plain old telephone service to video and broadband interactive services

This paper presents the evolution of fiber based local loop access systems in the U.S., from the traditional independent systems of yesteryear, migrating through co-deployed FITL (fiber in the loop) systems to the current trend towards Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) integrated broadband/narrowband system.
