摘要

Current logic programming languages such as Prolog offer the user increased capability in that mathematical logic forms the basis of the language and answers queries through resolution theorem proving.Answering the queries requires the accessing of the assertions of fact (the extensional database) in order to complete the process.As new applications are considered it is clear that the extensional database of facts will become larger and larger thus placing additional performance requirements on the manager of the facts.There is considerable commonality between logic rogramming and relational database management.Thus,in the near term the use of relational database is of considerable importance.As extensional databases become larger and larger the use of special computer architectures will become a reality.In this paper we consider the commonality between logic programming and relational database management;and consider some of the approaches to the use of special computer architectures to improve the performance of these systems.
