Extracted veins often have a large number of breakpoints, losing the continuity of veins after vein image binarization with image algorithms such as OTSU algorithm. In this paper, a multi-scale breakpoint repair algorithm based on vein direction is proposed. Firstly, the overall vein direction is obtained by using the designed multi-direction matrix on preprocessed image. Then the vein image is binarized by bidirectional valley recognition algorithm. Finally, the vein breakpoint is connected by the proposed multi-scale vein breakpoint repair algorithm. The experimental results show that the multi-scale breakpoint repair algorithm based on vein direction can repair breakpoints well and improve the continuity of veins.
