MallardTM is a World Wide Web based interactivelearning environment suitable for use in a wide variety of courses.MallardTM provides a secure environment within which one canorganize online course material and test students via interactivequizzes with instantaneous problem correction and grading. In addition,MallardTM provides administrative utilities for tasks such asmaintaining class rosters, recording grades, and viewingup-to-the-minute tables of student progress. Mallard'sTM opendesign allows flexibility and easy expansion. MallardTM iscurrently being used in a number of courses; we describe its use in twoengineering courses at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
