Variable speed brushless DC motor drive for household refrigeratorcompressor

Household refrigerators usually employ on/off-controlled,constant-speed, single-phase induction motors as compressor drives. Thispaper describes results obtained on a prototype refrigerator fitted witha variable-speed, three-phase, brushless DC motor drive. Considerationsregarding the motor construction are described, and test results of themotor and drive efficiency are presented and discussed
