A connection between algebraic functions of the angle ofscattering and integral parameters of particle size distribution isshown on the basis of measurement methods in which scattering at a smallangle is fundamental. The particle size distribution can be obtained bythe direct inversion of light scattering data, without presupposing aform for the distribution function. Measurements using instruments basedon the direct inversion of light scattering data are absolute and do notrequire an empirical calibration procedure. The determination ofquantities characterizing the particle size distribution is accomplishedwithout solving the ill-posed problems
