For the traditional auto-reclosing may reclose to the non-disappearing fault after the phase-to-phase fault occurs in the distribution line, a permanent fault discrimination scheme before the phase-to-phase reclosing in the distribution network using additional capacitor is proposed, so as to accurately judge the fault property before the reclosing to avoid reclosing blindly. The pre-charged additional capacitor is switched on the distribution line after the tripping, according to the change characteristics of discharging current of additional capacitor caused by the difference of circuit structure before and after the fault disappears to judge whether the circuit fault disappears, and then decide whether the reclosing or not. The simulation results based on PSCAD show that the proposed scheme can accurately identify the phase-to-phase fault characteristic in distribution line under different fault locations and different transition resistances, helping to improve the success rate of phase-to-phase fault reclosing.
