An Approach to Design of Energy Efficient Single Phase Induction Motor for Ceiling Fans

摘要

This paper deals with application requirements and electrical as well as geometrical design considerations for an energy efficient household ceiling fan based on single phase induction motor (SPIM). The initial analytical design of stator and magnetic circuit, is carried out, which has not been yet reported for ceiling fan SPIM. All essential design parameters are listed for the design of ceiling fan SPIM. An impact of crucial parameters such as number of turns in windings, airgap and stack length, is presented. The influence of stator geometry on air gap flux density, is studied. General guidelines of the rotor design, are also included. The dependence between load characteristics and the overall efficiency of the motor is correlated. For optimal design of the SPIM, a dual layer DoE based methodology is proposed. Design guidelines are substantiated by 2D FEM results.
