Surface Relief Gratings (SRG) were inscribed on azobenzene thin films using laser lithography and bleached by ultraviolet (UV) light exposure before being incorporated in organic solar cells. The patterned azobenzene thin films scattered the incident light within the solar cells, resulting in increased absorption. Power Conversion Efficiency (PCE) enhancements of 133% and 302% compared to control solar cells are reported for P3HT:PC61BM and PTB7:PC61BM solar cells, respectively.
