Our study demonstrated that the reuse of TWW for irrigating rice paddy fields can be a cost-effective measure in purification of WWTP's effluents, as the result of intake of nutrients by rice plants, and increase the self-sufficient feed ratio for dairy farming in Japan. For sustainable cultivation of high-protein forage rice with TWW irrigation, changes in soil property such as phosphorus content and ionic strength through three seasons should be intensively investigated by further studies.
