Determining Resource Capacity in Disaster Relief through a Model-Driven Decision Support System

摘要

The occurrence of disasters is a global concern. Government authorities in different nations employ the use of strategies, techniques, and technologies in mitigating disaster impact on a country. The purpose of this study is to develop decision support models that determine the resource capacity of a disaster management unit in the occurrence of a disaster and optimize the allocation of their organic resources such as food, vehicles and evacuation centers. The developed DSS model was able to determine the capacity of the currently available food resources and evacuation centers. The model was also able to suggest an optimized combination of vehicles to be utilized during an evacuation. The conduct of beta testing to efficiently check the suitability and efficiency of the applied algorithm to the system is recommended, as well as system evaluation by the end users for validation purposes.
