From ASD to Reliability Based LRFD of Geotechnical Structures: Learning from Pioneers and Experts through Videos and Webinars

In geotechnical engineering, most traditional geotechnical engineers are accustomed to allowable stress design. Nowadays with the new trend of geotechnical LRFD gaining more popularity, it has become very important for geotechnical engineering undergraduate, graduate students, and practicing engineers to become more familiar with the reliability based LRFD of geotechnical foundation structures. This paper reviews and summarizes many historically important works, and focuses especially on those vivid lectures, streaming videos and recorded webinars that are of great value to the geotechnical engineering community. A brief literature review of those important presentations is summarized and also pointed out are some of the missing lecture or webinars internet website links. The research seminars and recorded lectures summarized in the paper have a total of more than 12 hours of educational information. The authors hope that the paper will be a helpful summary for preserving the recorded webinars and videos, and hopefully some of them will become freely available again to the general readers/audience interested in those topics.
