This paper investigated the effect of mid-wall water cooling for the gun barrel undercontinuous firing. A 2D cross-section model of the gun barrel is adopted and the coolingchannel is circular. An interior ballistics code is used to determine the inner wall convectionboundary condition, providing gas temperature and heat transfer coefficient. Results oftemperature histories of the inner wall and outer wall and temperature distributions arepresented. The results show that this cooling method can slow down growth rate of the peaktemperature of the inner wall.
