In this paper, a probabilistic method to analyse the impact on the social welfare as a result of integrating wind turbine into the network, is proposed. The uncertainties arising due to the stochastic nature of the wind has been modeled using Monte Carlo simulation. By accounting the demand side variations and stochastically varying wind speeds, optimal power flow has been run for light load, regular load and heavy load conditions. In addition, the probabilistic social welfare is also obtained for these samples. The work has been implemented in MATLAB platform, using some features of the MATPOWER suite. This approach can be a guideline for the wind power traders to be in competition in the day ahead wholesale electricity market.
