摘要

With more than 3,000-year history, Beijing Old City possesses of significant Chinese cultural sites. This study focused on the conservation planning for Beijing Old City supported by remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS). Based on the analysis of historical maps and literatures, the conservation components were defined at the very beginning. Then, the conservation region and area were determined by means of up-to-date satellite image interpreting and GIS spatial analysis, such as overlay and buffer. By comparing the construction classes acquired from satellite image and current conservation areas, dynamic analyzing of water system, and buffer analyzing traditional construction class, the integrating conservation areas were suggested for the future.
