Refiners have been successfully employing Albemarle's rare earth free fuel sulfur and SOx reduction solutions - SCAVENGER™ and SOxMASTER™ - to meet their environmental constraints while using on more profitable higher sulfur feeds. SCAVENGER, a new rare earth free product, provides improved fuel sulfur reduction potential relative to past generations of additives. The significant advantage of SCAVENGER versus alternatives is that it does not reduce naphtha octane and has no large capital outlay associated with its use. SCAVENGER'S flexibility allows it to be used either structurally or opportunistically to capture opportunities, or help offset problems caused by planned or unplanned hydrotreater outages.
