Determination of the Impact of Environmental Variables on the Change-Out Frequency for Respirator Cartridges Utilized in Spray Polyurethane Foam Applications

The key focus of the Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) industry is safety, the safety of applicators, workers, other trades and homeowners. Respiratory protection is recommended for the application of SPF. The level of respiratory protection recommended varies upon the activity being done. A key component of a respiratory protection plan is the change-out schedule of the respirator cartridges. This paper discusses the environmental and other variables that impact the frequency of respirator cartridge change out. It utilizes industry air-monitoring information to demonstrate the impact of each of the variables on the change-out schedule.
