Ageratum conyzoides Extract as Inhibitor for Acid Corrosion of Mild Steel

The effect of extracts of Ageratum conyzoides leaves on the acid corrosion of mild steel were investigated by weight loss measurement and gasometric technique. The corrosion rates of steel and the inhibition efficiencies of the plant extracts were calculated. The results obtained showed that the inhibition efficiency was concentration dependent and increased with increasing concentration of the plant extract. The inhibition efficiency measured optimum of 97.5%. The inhibitive actions of the plant extracts were discussed on the basis of adsorption complex on the metal surface.
