On ICT and green growth from a sustainable perspective

The Brundtland Commission in its 1987 report“Our Common Future” defined sustainability, from then on it became the most frequently quoted definition associated with sustainability and the definition of green economy and green growth appeared in the aftermath. But there''s been enough scientific proof that humanbeings seriously lack sustainability, due to the failure of innovative definitions to be transformed into effective actions through policies and strategies supporting green growth. Over the past 10 to 5 years a concensus has emerged that ICT can support the development of green growth in three principal ways. However very little research has conducted on policies and strategies needed to improve transformation of economy, social structure and governance process. The global economic crisis that started in 2008 is a policy turningpoint for the world and its nations to confront the complexities of sustainable development challenges and the definition of green economy and green growth which appeared many decades ago as the product of transformational paradigm was put on global agenda. How to make policies and strategies to gurantee the systemic effects of digital economy support the transformation to green economy will become the realistic choice of nations to improve green growth.
